Mission Statement Lucia’s Imports L.L.C established in 2005, working under Fair Trade guidelines we partner with Guatemalan families, artisans groups and cooperatives to produce and develop a wholesale market for their quality designed accessories and handicrafts. Working directly with the Guatemalan artisan improves their economic well being and allows them to earn a living wage. Around the world, most artisans have little opportunity or experience to market their products. We work side by side with the artisans to design products that are not only rich in tradition but fashionable, modern and functional. Our hand beaded glass jewelry is made by artisan groups on Lake Atitlan utilizing their tradtional weaving skills and modern design rich in beauty and color. Most recently, we are working with artisans to preserve the ancient tradition of Mayan weaving and the new tradition of Recycling, Reusing and Renewing. Our eco-friendly purses, coin bags and accessories combine ;vintage embroidery and weavings from the Mayan women’s hupiles and cortes (traditional poncho style blouses and skirts made by the Mayan women. See history adjacent page) with modern fashion.Through our all our efforts, we work under the prinicples of Fair Trade and we hope to raise social consciousness of the beauty of the Guatemalan's art and their culture and to help make a difference in the artisan’s lives. We believe we can make this difference one purchase at a time. Lucia’s World Friendly Boutique We missed running our retail operations in Guatemala. In the fall of 2007, Lucia's World Friendly Boutiques was the premier Fair Trade Store in Lexington's Ky. Lucia’s World Friendly Boutique is located at 523 E. High St. in the historic Woodland Triangle shopping district, near Woodland Park, host of the famous Woodland Park Arts and Craft Fair. Having a retail store front we will be able to connect and help more artisans from around the world. Lucia's World Friendly Boutique highlights our Guatemalan purses and accesories, hand beaded jewelry and folk art. We also carry an eccletic array of ethically produced jewelry, accessories, gifts and artwork from around the world. Carrying fair trade products is our way of helping create a more just and equitable world through improving the quality of life of artisans and their families. Lucia's World Friendly Boutique wants to help save the world by introducing Lexington to environmental friendly products such as organic baby products, recycled paper and glass jewelry, gifts and purses made from recycled newspaper, magazines, juice bags and vintage textiles.
